Meet: Angela Abram

In 2019, Angela Abram was appointed to the Reynoldsburg school board - and now she’s working to stay. Over the past few years, a lot has changed; the covid-19 pandemic shifted a lot for Angela. She has had to make sensitive, tough and quick decisions as a member of the school board. She hopes to keep making those decisions by putting the families of her students' needs at the forefront.

Angela has been a resident of Reynoldsburg for 22 years and was originally approached by a community member about applying for the board. She’s an occupational therapist by profession so she has always loved working with children in homes, schools, and hospitals over the course of the past  34 years. She has seen a variety of abilities, economic and housing statuses, family dynamics, with these children.

When asked why she’s running now, Angela shares, “There’s always a sense of urgency.” She continues, “To me that urgency is always there and if my voice can move that needle through policy and curriculum that we’re setting in our schools then that’s what I’m there for.”

Although she represents the entire community, Angela acknowledges that Reynoldsburg has a large population of color. Angela believes this segment should be represented by someone who understands the circumstances  and be able to give voice and power back to those people through an equity lens of her lived experiences.

Angela hopes to fight for the Fair School Funding plan to see full actualization. The Reynoldsburg district is capped and Angela is continuing to fight for more support from the state and to  not rely so heavily on taxpayers. She believes all students deserve a fighting chance - and so do we.
