Now more than ever, we must all do our part to create racially equitable communities, policies, opportunities, and systems with conditions and demands built by those who are most impacted so that all people can thrive.
This upheaval includes revisiting the leadership of our respective movements, talking to friends and family, and challenging dominant institutions. As an organization dedicated to building the capacity of leaders and grassroots organizations, it is the cultural shift we champion at the Ohio Women’s Alliance.
To expand this important work, we announced our new voter engagement entity, the Ohio Women’s Alliance Action Fund in June of 2020.
Through this C4 organization, our OWA members have leveled up their civic engagement participation by expanding the electorate to be more inclusive of Black women and women of color.
The purpose of the Ohio Women's Alliance Action Fund is to build capacity for women, femmes, and gender-expansive folks—particularly Black women—to determine the lives they want for themselves, their families, and their communities through the electoral process. The OWA Action Fund creates a more sustainable movement through voter protection and education, civic engagement, and the endorsement of candidates that align with our values.
