Today marks a day of change and upheaval in our nation. We are allowing ourselves the chance to breathe, to celebrate a win. The first Black and South Asian woman takes her seat as the Vice-President of the United States. The four-year reign of Donald Trump comes to an end. Red states turned blue through the hard work of Black organizers. A record-breaking number of voters turned out, despite the global pandemic and rampant voter suppression.

It is not enough. The work continues, the fight has only begun.

We are committed to holding this new administration accountable for the promises they made; especially the promises to Black women whose hard work gave them these seats. We are committed to demanding better, demanding more, unapologetically.

Both of these realities can be true; the joy for organizers that have worked long and hard for this very moment for the past four years (and beyond) and the mustering of strength and determination as a new fight begins; well-earned relief and righteous anger. It’s important that we hold space for both. No matter how you are feeling in this moment, there is room for you here.
