Black Girls Matter

On Tuesday April 20th, 2021 in the late afternoon, the Columbus Police Department responded to a call for help in an East Columbus neighborhood. An officer opened fire at a 16-year-old Black girl, shooting her multiple times in the chest. She passed away from her injuries. Body cam footage was released and can be found online. Ma’khia Bryant was murdered by the Columbus Police Department, the same police she called to help her.
